It is brighter with more color and a new ribbon at the top. In addition to setting up the printer on WiFi, (I didn’t use USB cable), I also enabled HP ePrint (under “web services”). I was concerned about the price of toner cartridges for it, some can be as much as a new printer to purchase; but the ones for this one are extremely reasonable, and they even have the option of getting high yield cartridges or much cheaper lower capacity ones. HP's own PageWide Pro 750dw, yet another inkjet-based laser alternative, delivers monochrome pages for as little as 1.1 cents. The Lexmark MC2535adwe mentioned above, for example, is a few inches wider and longer and weighs about 8 pounds more. But pages that had color and small images printed quick and no runs. Starting the printer is quiet & uneventful compared with the Brother & similar 5-year old printers. However, after experiencing the common inkjet problems repeatedly with constant printer head cleaning, slow warming up and slow printing, not to mention cheap build quality, I gave up on inkjet printers. As a laserjet color printer, I expect great results. The only difference I could see with casual observation was that there is a little graphic on the left side of the M477 showing two concentric circles with what looks like perhaps an RFID tag touching on the corner. I finally threw in the towel and decided that, after 60+ hrs of troubleshooting, it's time to give up and let HP solve the problems it created in this product development. It reported: I scanned a few documents, and copied a few more. The M479fdw's biggest drawback is its cost of operation. You can expand both machines to 800 sheets, and their duty cycles and suggested monthly volume ratings are the same as the M479fdw's.
